Aliena: Hello Martin, I've liked too much your last album “Nihility” but I think “Winds” was more difficult and hare-brained, why this change?

Martin: Maybe "Nihility" sounds for some people like less difficult and technical but it's not true, that album is really progressive and some thing were not so easy to play, we will never want to play simple or primitive music.

Aliena: “Winds” seem more studied, I know “Nihility” isn't played simple.

Martin: The truth is that we worked on nihility much more hard and songs are more mature and thought over than on “Winds”. Anyway, we are much more satisfied of “Nihility” than of “Winds”.

Aliena: When you make a track you first think it or it come in a natural way?

Martin: I think that most people think the same way. Vogg is main composer of most stuff and he make most riffs. In the past he was making song like more, spontaneous, now he thinks a lot of everything he does, and compose. He analyses every single riff, every single second of track. I think it's better way of composing. The really new thing is, that he first makes guitar solos, and after that he makes riffs for that. The new cd will be our first album with such way of composing, I hope it’s gonna be good.

Aliena: Who is the younger in the band?

Martin: Our drummer Vitek, next month he's going to finish 19.

Aliena: You are a young band, was it a problem for you in the past, with other bands?

Martin: Yes, because we started playing early, I was 13 then.

Aliena: Very early.

Martin: Sometimes it was, but mostly because of some jealousy people. Some people were kidding that kids play death metal but we never cared about that, we was always saying big FUCK OFF to those people.

Aliena: hehe yeah but this jealous people now what can say ? You've been in tour also in Milwaukee, right?

Martin: I never ask such people because I don't mind of their opinion. Yes we played tour in the US with Incantation, Impaled, Vehemence and Dead to Fall. It was very good time for us, it was also first possibility for us to play in America, we got very good response on every single show, sometimes we got better response that Incantation.

Aliena: Do you like US scene?

Martin: We love US scene.

Aliena: What are your favourite bands?

Martin: They have a lot of great bands for example Morbid Angel, Hate Eternal (we played with them on Milwaukee), Cannibal Corpse and many many more.

Aliena: I've seen.

Martin: I think my favourite bands are Morbid Angel, Hate Eternal, Dream Theater, old Deicide, Death, Cannibal Corpse, Immolation, Slayer, Pantera and many many more.

Aliena: Did you listen metal from what age?

Martin: I listen metal since I was very young, some people even don’t believe that we started to listening metal so early, I think I was about 9 or 10 years old then.

Aliena: Who did you introduce in metal?

Martin: I don’t remember actually, I think I have heard some songs on radio or something, then I went to music store and bought some records. My first ones were Metallica "Ride The Lightning", Sepultura "Morbid Visions” and others.

Aliena: This means that, for example, is in Poland simple listen metal on radio?

Martin: Some radio stations plays metal but it doesn't happen too often, there's still not enough metal on TV or radio. Couple of years ago, we had a couple of TV shows playing metal. Nowadays we have only one, on polish VIVA, and it's not really good one. They play lots of shits like Linkin Park or Nickelback as on mtv, personally I have like 4 different mtv stations on my tv and polish mtv doesn’t play metal. Only mtv2 plays metal, our friend even has seen our videoclip in it, I haven’t seen it because I don’t watch tv too often.

Aliena: What do you think about the nu and crossover?

Martin: Nu metal? There are some good and shitty bands. I love Korn, Slipknot and System of a Down, but the rest is piece of shit for me.

Aliena: Do you like Vader?

Martin: Yes of course, they are ones of our best friends.

Aliena: Do you think Vader can influence Decapitated?

Martin: Not anymore, maybe when we were younger, when we were recording demos, but not now. By the way, Vader guys don’t think that Decapitated sounds similar to them in any way.

Aliena:I don't like the new work of Vader, I think it’s soft. What do you think about that?

Martin: It's quite good album, my best one is "De Profundis" but I still think that Vader makes a good work.

Aliena: How have you these sounds on “Nihility”?

Martin: Well, we had enough time in studio to work on every single detail, to set good sound of guitar, bass, to tune drums very well. We had pleasure to work with guys who are professionals, they learned their job in USA and they are just great.

Aliena: What pick up do you use?

Martin: We use EMG.

Aliena: And what drum kit and drum module do you use for this beautiful sound?

Martin: Well we didn’t use sounds from module, we took sound of kick from Pantera's "Far Beyond Driven" haha and for toms we used some Premiers Signia or something, I don't remember actually, I just know they were made from maple.

Aliena: Why have you only one guitarist?

Martin: Not anymore, next gigs we'll play with two guitars, our second guitarist is Jack Hiro from Sceptic, it’s gonna be really brutal then hehe. We didn’t have second guitarist so long because it was hard to find really good musician, we needed really good technical guy and we found him finally. We played with him some tours two years ago, but after that he had no enough time for us, but now he came back and we are 5 person band now.

Aliena: Great, well now I can only say you good luck and thank you very much!

Martin: Thank you too.
