Deviated Presence are a young project from Germany formed in 2002, that now are at the second official discographic experience after the debut in 2004. In spite of an irritating way to describe with a new name the kind of music of this good work (“versatile melodic metal”, what does it means??) it’s evident such from the first listening that this band gather some elements of ALL the most important kinds of metal, in particular death and black. It’s not anything new, but at the same time I can say that “Eerie Sphere” is really a beautiful album!
There are a lot of suggestive and intense moments, dreaming melodies on a great clean guitar-work (you absolutely have to listen the last piece, “Storm”) than, you suddenly have an M-16 bullet on your face done on wild and schizophrenic rythmics and hallucinogenic harmonic gears: such pure mental illness!
The worst problem is, I’m sorry, the production: in spite of a good mixing (you can hear every instrument very well), the drums (MIDI programmed) and the guitar sound are too “amateur”, if you consider that nowadays it’s very easy to have a sound close to the greatest band, using the free softwares.
But, if we neglect this problem, we can say that Deviated Presence are really a good and promising band, hoping that in the future they won’t be so much influenced buy metal passion and supported by a better sound.
