LIVA "REQUIEM"

Liva is a band from Sherbrooke, Quebec (Canada) brought to my attention by the Belgian Hardebaran, first one to confirm her support after knowing about us reopening the site. It is surely a band not easy to listen to, nor easy to talk about since its geniality, but I really love to talk about this band indeed.
This band proposes in "Requiem" an original "summary" of metal history with gothic and classical inserts; in the eleven tracks we can find every influence, from death to thrash and power, played in a melodic key; you could thus think that Liva is one of those bands trying unsuccessfully to find their own way attempting to merge different genres with a dfevastating result, both for the band and their listeners, but this is not the case: as Liva found their own way and in the vastity of their sounds manage to creare a homogeneity of true genius!! All the tracks are sung in latin by the two vocalists: the beautifully lyrical voice of Chaterine and the catch-all voice of Carlo moving effortless from the growl to the clean.
The CD sound is perfect, and the band shows amazing abilities, from the exceptional voices of the two vocalists, to the compositive abilities, and on the CD we also find an interview and a video... and when I read that this album was a self production, coproduced by Hardebaran, I gaped in amazement, given the quality of everything, including package and graphics!
I suggest this album to all those who want to listen to good music, and don't care about the monnicker but only to metal "as commanded by God".
