LUPERCALIA "LUPERCALIA" - 2001

What about Lupercalia without falling in the banal? Immediately say that theirs are album that the lovers of this kind of music are not able to not have!!!!
We begin this review with "Formismelarasanctusfilix" (a little long title yet? but listening to it you'll also understand the why!). This is not a simple song, it's more than this. This masterpiece starts with a splendid soprano voice, to which is united a sweet and slow music and a typical sacred music: all made to transport us back in time, in a progressive melodic trip.
A song of about 11 minutes!!! Yet does it pass as a puff, where is the makeup? Simple, the Lupercalia' songs are not "songs " but histories, and a clear example is "Normandia" (new version). Here to the music all the sounds of the village are united. The melody follows a precise way, from melancholy and delicate to happy and fast, and in these instants it's almost impossible to stay static, without letting loose in a whirling dance naked afoot, with the hair to the wind and the skirt that flutters, imagining of to be a dancer in an old village.
Unlike many of the innumerable groups that are ventured in this kind, Lupercalia despite the clear influences of groups as Dead Can Dance, Arcana, etc... they succeed in finding their space, creating some compositions melodic really original. Good songs guys!!!
