ATHANOR "CALL FROM THE DEPTHS" - 2003

I was very curious to listen to new Athanor work, becouse their first mini cd was a very good one at all, higher than a lot of Italian issues. This new work don't change my way of thinking about "Triumph of the dark power".
This cd, composed by four tracks - two new releases, a Mayhem cover and a bonus track taken by 'Triumph of the dark power' - is really interesting.
Here we go to talk about the new releases "Call from the dephts" and "The demon of the middle ages" which show a band that was able to grow up in a great way; in fact the two tracks are more valid of the ones contained in the first mini cd, being more linear as for the kind of composition, as for contents, giving more impact than before to the whole album.
Another positive note is the esecution of Mayhem's "Buried by time and dust", that he band play in a great way even thuogh a difficult and very quick song, showing a band really competitive at a technical level too.
So, go straight on guys! And now I wish to listen to the debut cd becouse it's a pity to don't give a possibility to a band as Athanor.

ATHANOR "TRIUMPH OF THE DARK POWER" - 2002

A very good cd this one of Athanor, professional with a good production, that shows a band who is sure about its-self capacityes.
They cd is composed by six tracks, one of wichisan intro; it's a furios assoult of newly-made and violent black metal as in the classic northern tradition, in the sweedish one in particular.
It's able to offer: the tracks, all very fine, are dens and agressive, in which on listen to a lot of thrash metal influence too in some riff, that markes the overall articulated and energetic, a various and involveing to the nearring as resoult.
It's an axsellente beginning for a band that I hope will go a long away..
