CROWHEAD "FROZEN" - 2003

Crowhead project was born in 1999 from split up of the great Shadow Dancers, this new project (that already have a demo called “Love Letter”) was created Jo-Inge Slangsvold (Vocals) e Oyvind Trinborg (Guitars), the crowhead’s sound is a great mix beetween gothic/dark metal and some Darkave influences.
Great chosen of the opener “My Angel” a strong gothic style, sad and melanchonic, but that never feel similar to the oppressive sound of the ’80 dark sound, very good the classic drums pattern, and the guitars well played, a particolar note to the singer, that greatly insert himself in the sound and that can create very deppressive atmospheres and also he can explain the emotions that the lyrics want to transmit.
With the next track the style little change, we find a drums with the classic ’80 dark pattern also as the guitars and the voice (listening this track I remembered bauhaus), also this track is a great work, with the other songs the style can be delineated with precision, it’s a Gothic metal, that, in some passages (as the ones in “Fire Eye (Kill You)” with the dirty singing) can rock alot, Crowhead use intro and some passages to make emerging the Electro Darkwave component that is well used in the album.
I would to underline the “My Angel” remix made by Signal Krem and the remix of “The Soul Is in The Dark Side” made by (woooaaah!) Sebastian Komor from Icon of Coil and I would also notice you of the collaboration of Rico Darum and Ted "Superdead" Skogmann (know also for mixing/producing of grat band such as Theatre of Tragedy, Apoptygma Berzerk, Zeromancer and Gothminister…!)
At the end I think this is a must fore the Gothic lover, expecially if you like the EBM/Darkwave scene.
